Corrections Corporation of America has selected the design-build team of Bell & Associates Construction and HOK to design and construct additions and renovations to their facility in McRae, Georgia. The $15 million project includes a new housing dormitory; segregation expansion; new commissary, classrooms, and chapel; expansion of inmate visitation; expansion and renovation of inmate intake; kitchen renovation; and a new non-lethal electrified fence.

This project is scheduled to begin this month and will wrap up October 2012. The existing facility will remain in operation during construction. McRae Correctional Facility has been open since 2002 and currently has a capacity of 1800 inmates. The expansion will increase that number by 454 beds.
