C. Ray Bell founded Ray Bell Construction in 1970 and has been a leader in commercial construction across the Southeast ever since.

1970

Ray Bell forms Ray Bell Construction Company in Brentwood, Tenn., and begins work on a Franklin Housing Project in Franklin, Tenn.

1980

Awarded James K Polk State Office Building/Tennessee Performing Arts Center.

1988

Completed Thomson Boling Arena, home of the UT Vols, and currently the largest arena on a college campus.

1990

Developed our Transportation Division.

1994

Constructed the BellSouth Building.

1997

Limited Partnership was formed.

1998

Completes expansion of Neyland Stadium, then the largest on-campus stadium in college football.

2002

Awarded Gateway Blvd. Bridge.

2003

Completed the Renovation of the Shelby Street Pedestrian Bridge.

2005

Awarded Tennessee Department of Transportation’s Largest Contract in History with the $104 million Hall of Fame Drive project.

Awarded the Largest Construction Contract in Tennessee History with the $151 million Morgan County Correctional Complex.

2006

Completed the Demonbreun Street Bridge project in Nashville, creating a gateway between the city’s growing mid-town area and downtown.

Bell recorded an 84% increase in revenue, moving from $150 million in 2005, to $284 million in 2006.

Awarded Nashville International Airport Terminal Renovations Project.

2007

Annual revenue hit an all time high at $303 million, leading to Business TN magazine naming the firm to the Hot 100 listing.

Completed the largest highway project ever awarded in the state of Tennessee at nearly $100 million, and earned the early completion bonus of $6 million.
